Walking into this year’s National EdTech Summit in Nairobi, by Edtech East Africa, the energy was unmistakable. Innovators, educators, policymakers, and learners filled the room with one common goal: to rethink how technology can foster more inclusive, resilient, and effective learning. For us at Learnademy, it was more than just an event. It was a chance to share what we’ve been building, listen to the voices of the ecosystem, and reflect on the future of education in Kenya, and the larger East Africa region.
The Challenge in East Africa’s EdTech Landscape
The summit shone a spotlight on a reality we already know well: the EdTech ecosystem in East Africa is full of promise, but often fragmented. Too many initiatives work in isolation, which means solutions are duplicated and resources are stretched. For families and learners, this translates into scattered, unreliable access to tools and platforms that could transform their education.
Another challenge discussed was the limited evidence base. Without clear insights into what works, many stakeholders — from schools to policymakers — struggle to make informed decisions. We also saw how power dynamics sometimes push aside the voices that matter most: educators, learners, and parents. These are the very people whose perspectives should shape innovation.
These challenges reminded us why collaboration and co-creation matter. Technology is powerful, but without shared knowledge, feedback, and trust, progress remains uneven.
Learnademy at the Summit
Against this backdrop, we were proud to showcase Learnademy’s solutions, designed precisely to bridge these gaps. Our School Management System demonstrated how schools can streamline teaching and learning in a way that is easy-to-use, convenient, efficient, accessible, and scalable. Our School Finder, the No.1 schools directory in Kenya, caught the attention of parents and educators eager for clarity in choosing schools, offering them an organized and transparent way to compare institutions.
We also highlighted our Easy Learn platform — designed to ensure learners can continue their studies even outside the classroom, including during the holiday season, while helping educators monetize their content. This resonated deeply with many, as access to revision materials is often a challenge. Finally, we shared some of our key initiatives, aimed at empowering learners, and tutors to embrace Edtech skills in schools and even at home.
What stood out most during these interactions was the genuine curiosity and constructive feedback we received. Educators were eager to understand how these tools could fit into their classrooms. Parents wanted to know how technology could simplify decision-making for their children’s education. Learners themselves showed us that when given the right digital tools, they don’t just adapt — they thrive.
Our Reflections
Being part of the summit wasn’t only about exhibiting. It was also about listening and learning. Conversations with stakeholders reaffirmed that the future of EdTech in Kenya cannot be built by one actor alone. It requires platforms that bring people together, amplify local innovations, and make knowledge sharing second nature.
For Learnademy, the summit was a reminder that our mission is not only to provide tools but also to foster an environment of trust and collaboration. The positive response to our products showed us that there is a real appetite for solutions that are relevant, practical, and tailored to the needs of parents, learners, and schools alike.
Looking Ahead
As we left the summit, we carried with us both encouragement and a sense of responsibility. Encouragement, because the engagement proved that our products are meeting real needs. Responsibility, because the challenges we face as a region demand more than isolated solutions — they demand collective action.
The National EdTech Summit reminded us that the future of learning in Kenya will be shaped not by technology alone, but by the people who use it and the communities it serves. At Learnademy, we are committed to playing our part in building that future, one where parents find solutions with ease, learners access content without barriers, and educators are empowered with the right tools while ensuring data security, privacy, and safety for all our users across all our products.
The journey ahead is exciting. And while the challenges are real, the summit revealed something even more powerful: when we come together, share knowledge, and co-create, the possibilities for education in East Africa are truly limitless.
